IN DEPTH:

Did you consider any other schools?

Yes I also considered North Carolina, Duke, Penn State, and Yale.

What surprised you about the recruiting process?

For me the recruiting process really kicked off the start of my sophomore year. Ireceived the letters that most kids receive and that was exciting. What surprisedme most was the calls my coaches were receiving from some great Division 1 collegecoaches asking for me to get in touch with them. My whole life I have wanted tocompete at the highest level so when I had teams like Yale, Carolina, Duke, and Denver talking to me I was thrilled. The thing about the entire process that really shocked mewas how quick everything went. One second I’m opening my first letter and the next I’m committed to Denver.

What made you choose Denver?

I chose Denver because it really felt like home. I enjoyed all of the colleges I visited, but for me Denver really set itself apart. The entire coaching staff made me feel like I would be an important part of bringing Denver its first national championship. The team made me feel like I belonged when I went on my visit last spring. Coach Tierney talked to my parents and me for several hours in his office answering all our questions assuring me that Denver was the best fit for me. Growing up in Colorado I have always been a fan of Denver. I dreamed of being a part of the great tradition of Denver andhopefully bringing Denver its first national championship. Denver is also a great school with phenomenal business school. It was all around the best fit for me.

How do you see your game fitting in at the next level?

I see my game fitting in well at the next level. I pride myself in my footwork, athleticism, and aggression. I like to use a wide assortment of checks to causeturnovers. I consider myself a good transitional player who likes to push the ball upfield. I need to work on my positional and body defense to be prepared for the nextlevel, instead of going for the big take away check.

Do you have any advice for players entering the recruiting process?

Be as proactive as possible and do everything you can to get your name in front of coaches. For me it was nice two have the support of my mom and dad who would helped me with my highlight videos, reviewed letters I wrote coaches and paid for my tournament and camps, as well as my campus visits. Another very important thing is to make every moment count when you’re out on the field. You never know who could be watching!
